FAQ's Ask Your Own Question
- What are the best tiles for bathrooms?
Porcelain and ceramic are top choices when it comes to tiling your bathroom, as they’re both hard-wearing tiles which will stand the test of time. Non-porous, porcelain is water-resistant and extremely good for using in showers and in bathrooms where there’s a high level of humidity. Porcelain tiles are also very easy to wipe clean and are scratch and stain-resistant. Ceramic is similarly robust and easy to keep clean, although it’s more porous.
- What tiles are best suited to wet rooms?
When choosing tiles for your wet room, it’s best to go for textured tiles for added grip, especially on the floor. Mosaic tiles also have more grouting and give additional grip as a result of this. You may also decide to opt for something like a slate shower tray for the base if you don’t want floor tiles.
Porcelain and glass tiles are good choices for the walls as both are robust and water-resistant and don’t scratch or stain easily. Ceramic and natural stone can also be used in wet rooms, so it’s down to personal preference as to which you decide to go for.
- What size of tiles should I buy for a small bathroom?
Larger tiles work really well in smaller spaces as they require less grouting and create a more seamless and expansive look, making rooms appear bigger than they are. Using smaller tiles, such as mosaic tiling, can create a cluttered look, so if you want to optimise the space you have, then medium-size to large might be best.
- Can you use the same tiles on the walls and floor?
Some of our tiles are suitable for both walls and floors, but other varieties are specific to walls or floors only. This is because floor tiles will need to be stronger to support the weight of footfall and furniture, whereas wall tiles do not have the same requirements. Different materials also have varying tensile strength, so it’s important not to put a wall tile on the floor, as it’s likely to crack and sustain damage.
